STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS, INC. INTRODUCES NEW 100 AMP CURRENT SENSE RESISTOR

RALEIGH, NC (April, 2005) – Stackpole Electronics, Inc. has introduced a rugged new current sense resistor capable of carrying up to 100 amps of continuous current in applications that require high power dissipation with low resistance values.

Designated the HLD Series, these resistors feature a metal element with a four terminal ‘Kelvin connection’ designed to provide current-sensing capability with extremely low ohmic values down to 0.001O in tolerances to 1% with TCRs of 55 ppm/ °C. They are rated for operation from -55°C to +150°C.

According to Rob Hudspeth, Director of Sales & Marketing at Stackpole, the HLD Series has numerous advantages over competing technologies. "Their high current rating enables them to be used in a wide range of power control circuits," explained Hudspeth, "The metal element is very rugged and its narrow construction saves board space compared to power wirewound resistors with similar ratings. Additionally, this technology is much more cost effective than similar hall effect sensors.”

The HLD Series of resistors are used in computers, servers and workstation applications; as well as power supplies and motor controls.

Typical pricing for the HLD Series is approximately $1.50 in quantities of 1,000, with delivery times from 6-8 weeks.
