STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS, INC. UPDATES LEAD-FREE INITIATIVE FOR RESISTOR PRODUCTS

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 29, 2005) - Stackpole Electronics, Inc. a global leader in the manufacture of resistor product solutions has announced a major update to its lead free initiative for resistor products. The update details Stackpole’s current lead-free part numbering schemes and outlines the dates for conversion of any products that are not currently lead free.

Stackpole has joined in the worldwide effort to reduce the amount of lead in electronic components and to meet the various regulatory requirements now prevalent, such as the European Union’s directive regarding ‘Restrictions on Hazardous Substances’ (RoHS). Of 34 resistor product families, 31 resistor product families are currently offered in lead-free options. Two of the remaining three resistor product families are scheduled for lead-free conversion by September 2005.

Regarding this lead-free initiative, Joe Biernacki, Stackpole’s Director of Quality Assurance commented, “Lead free has been a very important issue for Stackpole over the last 2 years. We have placed a great deal of emphasis on being ready to provide lead free products to our customers.” He added, “Most of our products are either currently lead free or available as lead free. In compliance with our policy of continuous improvement, Stackpole will continue to pursue lead-free alternatives for all of our products.”
