STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS, INC. INTRODUCES ANTI SURGE SMD RESISTOR TECHNOLOGY

RALEIGH, NC (June, 2005) – Stackpole Electronics, Inc. has introduced an anti surge, think film resistor technology as a surface mount replacement for wirewound and axial leaded film products.

Designated the RPC Series, this surface mount resistor is available in ohmic values down from .27O to 22MO in tolerances to 5% with TCRs of 55 ppm/ °C. The RPC Series is rated for operation from -55°C to +150°C.

On the introduction of the RPC, Rob Hudspeth, Director of Sales & Marketing at Stackpole commented, “The RPC Series is a high energy chip which handles 1800W for 1 millisecond for load-power and transient voltage demands. This technology is also an excellent choice for repetitive surge and pulse load requirements where wirewound and axial-leaded film devices were previously used.”

Typical pricing for the RPC Series is approximately $0.05 - $0.10 each in quantities of 5,000. Lead times for the RPC Series are currently at 6 to 8 weeks.
