Radial leaded metal plate resistors extend leaded current sense resistor offering…

STACKPOLE INTRODUCES LEADED
FLAMEPROOF LOW RESISTANCE SERIES TO 10W

RALEIGH, NC (July 25, 2006) – Stackpole Electronics, Inc. has introduced a new radial leaded metal plate low resistance value series of resistors. These resistors have a ceramic flameproof case and are 100% RoHS compliant. This series ranges in power from 2 – 10 watts, and in resistance value from .01 ohms to 2.2 ohms in both 5% and 10% resistance tolerances.

The MPR series feature a non-inductive metal plate resistive element that is both robust under high current loading and also non-inductive. The ceramic case is completely flameproof and the radial leads have a standard 10mm standoff to aid in heat dissipation without overheating the circuit board and surrounding components. This packaging offers a 10 watt rated part in the same basic dimensions as most standard 5 watt open metal element resistors.

”Many applications with current sensing requirements can’t allow for an exposed metal resistance element for various reasons”, said Stackpole Product Engineering Manager Kory Schroeder. He continued, “This series combines the desirable properties of a solid metal element, such as robustness and low inductance, with a flameproof ceramic casing. The smaller size compared to similarly rated metal element products can save space and material cost.”

The MPR Series of resistors are ideally suited for all types of power supplies, voltage regulation, many automotive systems and controls including engine controls, white goods, power tools, test & measurement equipment, signal analyzers, electronic meters and scales, and many medium to large portable battery powered devices.

Typical pricing for the MPR Series is quantity, size, and tolerance dependent, but ranges from $0.15 to $0.30 with delivery times from 6-8 weeks.
